Left-arm spinner Dian Prahalad took 5-7 in six overs as Berbice Trophy Stall completed a 10-wicket win against a jaded Essequibo team at Enmore yesterday. Essequibo won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 35 all out in 18 overs. Extras contributed 16, and no Essequibo batter reached double figures.

Besides Prahalad’s five-wicket haul, right-arm off-spinner Plaffiana Millington claimed 3-11 in six top overs. In reply, Berbice cruised to a dominant win, ending on 39-0 in 5.1 overs. Katana Mentore hit an unbeaten 20 which included two fours, while Marian Samaroo made an unbeaten six.

Meanwhile, in the other match at GCC Bourda, Demerara won by 242 runs in their match against the Guyana Select U-19. Taking first strike, Demerara posted 326-6 in their allotted 50 overs, with National player Akaze Thompson stroking an 87 which included seven fours. Mandy Mangru supported with 43 while Hema Singh made 36 not out. Lashuna Toussaint had earlier scored 34 while Latoya Smith made 33.

Select U-19 contributed 63 extras to the Demerara score, but four of their bowlers each contributed one wicket, and two dismissals were run-outs. In reply, Select U-19 slumped to 84 all out in 28 overs. Haseena Mohamed bagged 4-2 in two overs, while National left-arm spinner Kaysia Schultz took 4-26 in her 10 overs. Lisa Charles was the only batter to reach double figures, scoring 23 even as extras contributed 20.

The final round of this tournament will be played today, with Berbice and Demerara playing for championship honors at GCC Bourda, while Essequibo and Select U-19 will meet at Enmore.
