St Kitts & Nevis Patriots Head Coach: Looking for a big season from x-factor Rutherford

Guyana’s Sherfane Rutherford will rock the armory of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the upcoming Hero Caribbean Premier League starting on August 26 at Warner Park, St Kitts. Patriots Head Coach Simon Helmot is hoping that the exciting pocket rocket, Rutherford, will start fresh and have a big season at his new home in CPL.

“I think he (Rutherford) will be a strong player for us in the middle order, he can bat anywhere in that middle-order spot. He is such a versatile player, a strong all-around cricketer. He can also bowl a few overs. I think guys like Sherfane Rutherford and Fabian Allen are really x-factor players and hopefully, they can complement the existing players that we have in the team.

“I am looking forward to a really good season from Sherfane Rutherford, it was not the best season for him last season so hopefully, a fresh start here with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will be great for him,” the Patriots Head Coach said.

Rutherford has been a T20 globetrotter and enjoying success wherever he goes. Despite not playing a single match for the IPL champions, Mumbai Indians, he gained experience within that dressing room. He went on to win the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Multan Sultans, and in his following PSL season, he played for Peshawar Zalmi and reached the final of the PSL.

The left-hander scored 276 runs in that season at a strike rate of 153.33 with 21 sixes to his name. He was the third-highest run-getter and he had the most sixes for his team. Rutherford also had good outings in the United States of America recently. This CPL will be of great importance for the Guyanese who will be looking to impress and extend his form for the Patriots.
