Rose Hall Canje clinical, Port Mourant trounce Rose Hall Town

Rose Hall Canje continued to announce themselves impressively in Berbice cricket, registering back-to- back wins in the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) Kevin Sinclair Under-17 tournament.
Port Mourant also defeated rivals Rose Hall Town on Saturday.

Rose Hall Town v Port Mourant

In the match reduced to 47 overs and played at the Area H Ground, Port Mourant recorded a 59-run win on the back of solid performances from Mark Ramaleo and Salim Khan. Batting first, Port Mourant racked up 252-7 in 47 overs after the first ball was bowled off at 10:00h. The lads from Port Mourant lost an early wicket at 29-1, but West Indies youth player Rampertab Ramnauth and Khan added 72 runs for the second wicket.

Ramnauth scored 49, inclusive of five fours and two sixes while Khan made 58, which was decorated with four boundaries. Ramaleo was the star with the bat, hitting an unbeaten 72, which was laced with eight fours. He also featured in a 77-run stand with Khan for the third wicket.

A total of 46 extras pushed Port Mourant to a big score of 252-7 when 47 overs had expired. Captain of the Rose Hall Town team, Christopher Deerop claimed 3-31 in nine overs while off-spinner Matthew Pottoya was economical with 1-21 in 10 overs. In reply, Rose Hall Town managed only 193-9 in 47 overs, with former Port Mourant player Romesh Bharrat scoring a fighting 57, which featured two fours. The little lad showed great determination, batting for a majority of the innings. Only Pottoya (16); Nyron Hicks (15) and Romesh Paras (14) offered any support as extras yielded 60 runs. Khan returned with the ball and claimed 3-23 in 10 overs while Romel Boodwah had 3-43 as the Port Mourant fielders dropped multiple catches.

Rose Hall Canje in back-to-back wins

Rose Hall Canje J’s Supermarket U-17 team defeated Tucber Park by nine wickets. Batting first, Tucber Park made 83 all out in 23.3 overs with Isai Thorne wreaking havoc with 4-20. He was supported by Romario Ramdeholl (2-6) and Sanjay Algoo (2-20). Ravishkar Sobhai (25) and Delon Hendore (15) were the top-scorers for Tucber Park.
In reply, Rose Hall Canje cruised to 87-1 in 15.3 overs, with Avishkar Persaud hitting an unbeaten 37 and Zadeen LaRose scoring 22. Algoo was unbeaten on 10.

Earlier in the week, Rose Hall Canje recorded a huge 318-run win over Kendall Union, scoring their second 400+ total in the season. Rose Hall Canje racked up 409-7 from 50 overs, with Algoo hitting 152, including nine fours and six maximums. Thorne struck 95, which featured eight fours and six sixes, while Andrew Benneth made 61.
Rahul Victor (2-63) and Ganesh Harris (2-86) were the wicket-takers for Kendall Union. In reply, Kendall Union made 91 all out. Harris’s 57 was insufficient as Avishkar Persaud (2-13) and Travon Wharton (2-17) led a collective team effort in the 318-run win. (GTimes)
