Ramsammy brothers lead Tucber Park to Premium Asphalt U-19 title

Tucber Park Cricket Club on Thursday last defeated East Bank Blazers by 286 runs at the Rose Hall Canje Community Centre to lift the first ever Premium Asphalt Under 19 trophy. Abdul Ramsammy struck an impressive 97 while his younger brother Zeynul Ramsammy made a composed 68 as Tucber Park posted 330-9 in their alloted 50 overs. In response, a collective bowling effort rolled over East Bank to 44 all out.

Earlier, Tucber Park lost Anthony Williams for five but Abdul found a reliable partner in Tomani Caesar. The duo shared a blistering 74-run partnership for the second wicket which came off only 47 balls in 39 minutes. The compact left-hander, Caesar was removed for a promising 24 from 16 balls which included four boundaries.

The right-handed Ravishkar Sobhai partnered the senior Ramsammy and the score rolled along smoothly as the duo added 82 runs together. Sobhai made a 30-ball 34 which included four boundaries and one six. Abdul’s 131-minute innings of 97, came off 70 balls and was decorated with six maximums on the fairly large outfield and and five fours.
Zeynul Ramsammy, batting at number five, struck a solid 68 which came off 83 balls laced with three sixes and and four fours in a dominant Tucber Park effort. Leg-spinner Simeon Gafoor claimed 3-61 from 10 overs for East Bank Blazers. In reply, Blazers never got going as extras were the top-score.

Four of the Tucber Park bowlers claimed two wickets each. Player of the match Abdul claimed 2-6 from six overs to polish off a solid all-round effort while Zeynul had 2-1 in three balls. Richard Simon had 2-13 in three overs and Kevin Kisten had 2-2 in his solitary over.
