Jamaica Tallawahs Head Coach: Permaul’s role will vary throughout CPL

Guyana’s Veerasammy Permaul, for a second successive season, will play for Jamaica Tallawahs in the Hero Caribbean Premier League. Tallawahs Head Coach Floyd Reifer said the experienced Permaul did a good job in his first season for the Jamaican franchise and he will play different roles in the upcoming CPL.

“Permaul as we know is an experienced campaigner. He has been playing CPL from its inception. Last year was his first year at the Tallawahs and I thought he did a good job. He came in and bowl at the powerplay. It depends on the game that we play and who we play against so his role will vary in terms of what we want him to execute at different periods of the games.”

The experienced left-arm spinner has enjoyed success in the power play in past seasons when he played for the Guyana Amazon Warriors.  Permaul played 62 CPL matches and claimed 42 wickets at a brilliant economy rate of 6.78. He has a best bowling figure of 3-20 in T20 cricket.

Permaul, the 32-year old who hails from Berbice, played 82 T20 matches in total and has 55 wickets. His economy rate is a shade below seven, at 6.99. He has dominated Regional cricket for years with 536 First-class wickets in 121 games and 132 wickets in 95 List A games.
