The 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction is set for December 19 in Dubai, and some West Indian players will be in high demand. West Indies T20 captain Rovman Powell, who has shown recent form, and pace ace Alzarri Joseph should headline the West Indian buys in the upcoming auction.
The likes of Jason Holder, Keemo Paul, Akeal Hosein and Sherfane Rutherford may also secure IPL deals. Matthew Forde, Shai Hope, Brandon King and Alick Athanaze may fancy their chances of securing first IPL deals.
This will be the first time an IPL auction is held outside India. Prior to the auction, six West Indies players were retained/traded.
Nicholas Pooran will turn out for Lucknow Super Giants, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine will don the Kolkata Knight Riders outfit, Shimron Hetmyer will play for Rajasthan Royals while Kyle Mayers will return for Lucknow Super Giants.
Romario Shepherd has been traded to Mumbai Indians.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Player Auction will feature 333 cricketers who are scheduled to go under the gavel in Dubai at the Coca-Cola Arena on December 19th, 2023. Out of 333 players, 214 are Indians and 119 are overseas players of which 2 players are from associate nations.
The total capped players are 116, uncapped players are 215 and 2 from associate nations. A maximum of 77 slots are now available with up to 30 being slotted for overseas players. The Auction will start at 2:30 PM IST.
