We will get there– Ramson Jr on naming Providence Stadium stands

In contrast to other cricket venues around the world that feature names of great players or cricket personalities on stands or facilities, the Guyana National Stadium at Providence is missing such names on the various stands. Culture, Youth and Sport Minister Charles Ramson Jr said he would advance this at the appropriate time.

“I have not advanced the discussion as yet. We got some priorities at the moment. It is not the most important thing for us at the moment. We will get there as soon as we can get to some degree of normality in the way in which we organise ourselves in sport,” Minister Ramson Jr said on a recent Sean Devers Sports Watch.

“I have spoken to “Reds” (Joseph Perreira) and he has been very insightful in some of the advice and the recommendations. It (naming the Stadium stands) is something that more people have raised with me and I am going to advance it at the appropriate time, but it’s too early at this point.”

The National Stadium at Providence will host Pakistan in three T20 Internationals against West Indies on July 31, August 1 and August 3. Preparations began early at the National Stadium, which looks in tip-top shape at the moment. (GTimes)
