
In the battle of the West Indians in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Guyana’s Sherfane Rutherford stroked an attractive 56 for Peshawar Zalmi but his team suffered an eight-wicket defeat. The services of Shimron Hetmyer with the bat were not needed as his team, Multan Sultans chased down 167 to win with 21 balls to spare.
Earlier, Zalmi posted 166-7 in 20 overs with Rutherford top-scoring with a 40-ball 56 which included four sixes and two fours. Rutherford batted at number six while his fellow West Indian, Rovman Powell made four and Fabian Allen made three.
Kamran Akmal scored 35 while Haider Ali made 28. Shahnawaz Dhani bagged 4-31. In reply, Mohammad Rizwan scored an unbeaten 82 while Shoaib Maqsood made 61 in a complete win. Sultans ended on 167-2 in 16.3 overs. Allen went wicket-less, bowling his four overs for 39 runs.
Hetmyer’s team is in sight of a top four finish while Rutherford’s side, Zalmi are in third in the PSL.
