Guyana Under-15s destroyed defending champs Trinidad & Tobago, by nine wickets today at the Coolidge Cricket Club Ground in Antigua.
Cotton Tree right-arm seamer Arif Khan and left-arm spinner Gilbert Griffith took eight wickets between themselves, with Khan leading with 5-18 and Griffith claiming 3-19.
The Trinidadians won the toss and elected to bat first, but they were bowled out for 83 in 24.2 overs with Vice-Captain Zakariyya Mohammed leading with 24 after Khan snapped up 5-18 from 6 overs.
The Tucber Park lad, Griffith ended with stingy figures of 3-19 from 6 overs while Brandon Henry (1-3) and Darvir Seegobin (1-0) finished nicely.
Guyana cruised to 84-1 in just 18.4 overs thanks to a solid half-century stand from opener Parmeshwar Ram who hit 37 not out with six fours and Vice-captain Emmanuel Lewis who hit 31*off 24 (5×4); losing only opener Justin Dowlin (7) in the chase.
Guyana will play Jamaica in the upcoming round on Saturday March 30.
