Regional U-19: Leeward Islands thump Guyana despite Thorne’s six-wicket haul

After thumping Trinidad and Tobago in their opening fixture of the Cricket West Indies Regional Under-19 three-day in St Vincent, Guyana suffered a heavy ten-wicket defeat against the Leeward Islands.

In the round two match which was completed inside two days, Guyana posted 73 all out from 48 overs in their first innings, while the Leeward Islands made 151 all out in 53 overs. West Indies youth pacer Isai Throne claimed 6-36 in 12 overs while Jonathan Rampersaud had 2-21.

In Guyana’s second innings, they posted 90 all out, with Zachary Jodah top-scoring with 23 and Shamar Yearwood scoring 22. Micah McKenzie claimed 5-18 in 7.2 overs while Onaje Amory and Nathan Edward had two wickets each in Leeward Islands’ dominant show at Park Hill. Leeward Islands then ended with a ten-wicket win, chasing down the target in 1.5 overs, ending on 14-0.

Guyana will now play Jamaica at Arnos Vale on Saturday, August 20 from 10:00h in round three.
