Quiet start for Guyanese boys: wins for Red Dragons, Blue Dolphins in Rising Stars U-19 round one

Red Dragons won by 50 runs against Green Patriots at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua while Blue Dolphins won by three wickets against Yellow Flamingoes at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground.

At Sir Vivian Richards, Flamingoes batted first and reached 247-6 in 50 overs while Dolphins reached the victory in 49.2 overs, ending on 249-7. For Flamingoes, Anderson Amurdan made an unbeaten 117 while Kyle Kissondath made 76. Guyana’s Matthew Nandu made 10.

Bowling for Dolphins, Tiron Chase claimed 3-50 while Guyanese Isai Thorne claimed 1-52 in 10 overs. In the chase, Dolphins was propelled by Jordan Johnson’s 71 and Justin Jaggesar 52. Chaedon Raymond had 2-41.

In the other match, Dragons batted first and posted 256 all out in 47.5 overs. John Layne made 47 while Amrit Dass scored 34. Guyanese Mavindra Dindyal made 13. Jaden Carmichael took 3-41. In reply, Pitons were rolled over for 206 in 44.1 overs. Givonte Depezia made 70 in a lossing effot. Guyanese Rampertab Ramnauth made 12. Tyran Theodore claimed 2-25.

The CWI Rising Stars U19 trial series is set to continue on Tuesday at 9:30am (8:30am Jamaica Time. Red Dragons will face Yellow Flamingos at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground.
