Junior Sinclair, Alimohamed slam centuries in final Guyana Harpy Eagles prep-match

All-rounders Junior Sinclair and Ronaldo Alimohamed were at their brutal best, slamming centuries at the Guyana National Stadium earlier today.

The right-handed duo threw their names into the selection hat for the Guyana Harpy Eagles team, signaling their intention on day one of the final practice match.

Young Sinclair slammed 129 from 139 balls, while Ali Mohamed struck 121 from 59 balls. Sinclair, batting at number six, hit nine sixes and eight fours while Alimohamed slammed 11 sixes and 10 fours, as Nial Smith’s XI pile up 472 all out in 83.5 overs.

With Kevin Sinclair in Pakistan in the West Indies Test team, Junior Sinclair is almost a sure pick for the Guyana Harpy Eagles opening round of the Regional Four-Day tournament where the defending champions, Guyana will face Barbados on January 29 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence. Junior Sinclair who is also an off-spinner, spent 192 minutes at the crease during his century.

In addition to the two centurions, Albion Cricket Club duo, Adrian Sukwah and Afraz Budhu hit half-centuries. Sukwah, the wicket-keeper batsman who has been in red-hot form in local cricket in Guyana, made 56 while batting at five, while the teenager, Budhu made a fluent 66, hitting 10 fours and two sixes.

The bowlers for Kemol Savory’s XI were taken to the cleaners, aa leg-spinner Zeynul Ramsammy mopped up the tail to finish with 3-35 from 5.5 overs. Thaddeus Lovell, Isai Thorne and Richie Looknauth claimed two wickets each. At stumps, Savory’s XI reached 19-0 after four overs.

Day two is expected to bowl off tomorrow, January 16 at 9:00h.
