Inter-county: Permaul, Sinclair lead Berbice to second win

A five-wicket haul from Veerasammy Permaul and an attractive 81 from Kevin Sinclair propelled the Berbice senior team to a three-wicket win over the Select XI at Enmore.

In round two of the Senior inter-county 50 over tournament, Berbice restricted Select XI to 188-9 in 50 overs. Permaul was the star with 5-40 in his 10 overs. Gudakesh Motie had 1-19 from his ten overs while Nial Smith and Kevin Sinclair had one wicket each.

Right-handed opener Raymond Perez top-scored for Select XI with 52 while Christopher Barnwell scored an even 50. In reply, Berbice reached 191-7 in 39.5 overs. Sinclair blazed 81 from 85 balls, an innings laced with nine fours and three sixes.

Seon Glasgow (22) and Sinclair added 75 runs for the third wicket. Seon Hetmyer, the elder brother of Shimron Hetmyer made 31 while young Nigel Deodat impressed with a a promising 30.

Guyana youth spinner Jonathan Rampersaud had 2-10 in four overs while Isai Thorne had 2-30 from his seven overs.

The Berbice team will battle Essequibo on October 5 at GCC from 9:00h local time.
