Guyana Harpy Eagles middle-order batsman Kevlon Anderson spent some 183 minutes in the middle when he scored a decorated 69 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence. Anderson’s 69 along with fast-bowler Thaddeus Lovell’s 5-45 were highlights on day one of the Guyana Harpy Eagles pink-ball practice match.
The Harpy Eagles are in preparation mode for the Regional Four-Day tournament which bowls off on January 29 where the defending champions, Guyana will face Barbados Pride.
Tagenarine Chanderpaul’s XI won the toss and batted first; scoring 230 all out in 67.3 overs. Anderson struck 10 fours in his 69, and he was supported by Jonathan Van Lange who made an unbeaten 41, and Shamar Yearwood made 30. Skipper Chanderpaul scored 24, as Lovell, rocked the opener stumps. Lovell bowled 12.3 overs and picked up 5-45.
He was supported by spinner Ashmead Nedd who claimed 2-22 from 11 overs, and pacer Isai Thorne, who had 2-44 from 13.2 overs.
At stumps, Kemol Savory’s XI were 26-1 after eight overs. Nial Smith dismissed Raymond Perez for six while the unbeaten batsmen, Matthew Nandu (05) and Zeynul Ramsammy (06) will resume day two at Providence from 14:00h.
