Left-arm spinner Kaysia Schultz will turn out for the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women’s team for the 2023 Massy Women’s Caribbean Premier League, which bowls off on August 31 in Barbados.
The 26-year-old Guyanese said she is aiming to grab the CPL opportunity with both hands and add to her five matches she has already played for the West Indies Women at senior international level.
“Opportunity is something I absolutely crave. I have been working very hard behind the scenes, so it is about time I trust in that hard work. I am looking to achieve a lot of wickets this time around. I am a big spinner of the ball, so it is just about getting it into the right areas and wickets will come,” Schultz said.
She is also relishing the training camp which was organized by the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Schultz added: “Personally, it is a good initiative. I have been working on my all-round game, especially in the bowling department. And having both of the experienced coaches in Coach Ryan and Coach Griffith working with us, they have been enhancing our knowledge in the game, and that is something I will be taking in this CPL.”
“It is going to be a good opportunity for me personally just to go out there and showcase my skills. Hopefully, I can inspire a lot of young girls to play the sport and stay in the sport,” she said.
“Playing for West Indies is an amazing feeling, so I am looking forward to this CPL as it relates to opportunity, so I can express myself and get wickets under my belt,” Schultz concluded.
