It was a rare sight in Guyana women’s cricket when Demerara defeated Berbice in the senior female inter-county T20 tournament.
Led by Cherry-Ann Fraser’s 4-9 from four overs, Demerara bowled out Berbice for 34 from 15 overs at Malteenoes Sports Club. In reply, Demerara won by five wickets, laboring to 35-5 from 13.2 overs to clinch victory over rivals, Berbice for the first time in over a decade.
The West Indies seamer, Fraser started proceedings and rocked the star-studded Berbice batting line-up. In yet another poor batting display in the tournament, only Kaysia Schultz, a West Indies player reached double figures in the contest, where she scored an unbeaten 10.
These players will await the squad to be announced as they intensify preparations for the Regional Women’s tournament in St Kitts next month.
