Sheik slams century

Mohammed Naim Sheik hit a hundred to help Bangladesh A beat West Indies A by 44 runs and level their ODI series 1-1.

Sheik hit 14 fours and a six in his 116-ball knock to power Bangladesh A to 277 for 6 in their 50 overs at Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, St Lucia.

The Bangladesh A opener shared an important partnership of 93 for the third wicket with Mohammed Mithun (28).

Sabbir Rahman (62 off 58 balls) then dominated a 69-run stand for the fourth wicket with Shahadat Hossain (24) as Bangladesh A put up a challenging first-innings score.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Bryan Charles and Anderson Phillip both had figures of 2 for 45, while Shermon Lewis took 2 for 50 for West Indies A.

West Indies A failed to build on a 94-run opening stand between Tagenarine Chanderpaul (38) and skipper Joshua Da Silva (68).

After Rejaur Rahman Raza (2/44) removed both openers, Makidul Islam (3/32) tore through the middle order.

Only Teddy Bishop (31 off 43 balls) and Bryan Charles (32 not out) resisted after that as Bangladesh restricted the West Indies to 233 for 9 in their 50 overs.

The 3rd and final unofficial ODI match will be played on Saturday at Gros Islet. (Loop News)
