After picking up four wickets in the first innings, Roston Chase rounded out a good game scoring an unbeaten 45 to guide Jahmar Hamilton XI to a three-wicket win in the Best v Best 4-Day trial match in St Lucia.
Chase would have placed himself in contention for the first Test match against South Africa starting on June 10 at the Darren Sammy National Stadium. His innings of 45 included six fours and two sixes and spanned for 50 balls. He featured in an unbroken 61-run stand with Keron Cottoy (19*).
Resuming the final day on 218-4, requiring 93 more runs to win, Hamilton XI lost Paul Palmer (23) and Raymon Reifer (32). Hamilton made nine as Rahkeem Cornwall finished with 3-99 in 32 overs. Kyle Mayers picked up 2-36 for Jermaine Blackwood’s XI. Hamilton XI finished on 313-7 in 94.5 overs.
Shai Hope’s 79 and 106 were the highlight of the match while Kieran Powell’s 95 was another bright spark. Chase and Jayden Seales picked up four wickets each in an innings while Nial Smith also impressed with three in the first innings. Worrying signs came when Shannon Gabriel suffered a hamstring injury.
