Fast bowler Demeteri Cameron joins the GHE squad for the fifth and final match in the WIC 2023. Cameron replaces Ronsford Beaton who was once again found to have an Illegal bowling action.

Beaton was reported by the Match Officials, Match Referee Reon King, On-field Umpires Nigel Duguid and Shannon Crawford, and the Fourth (Standby) Umpire Ryan Banwarie for having a suspect bowling action during the GHE match against Jamaica Scorpions at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence. Correspondence received by the GCB from CWI indicated that “the CWI procedure for persons using a suspected illegal bowling action entails the footage from the match in question being sent to Loughborough University. This procedure was followed, and confirmed by an opinion report, that the action used by Ronsford Beaton is illegal. Consequently, in keeping with the CWI procedure for an illegal action used, Ronsford Beaton is suspended from bowling with immediate effect.”

Further, the correspondence indicated that “Under the ICC guidelines, CWI must report Beaton’s suspension to the Internation Cricket Council (ICC), who will advise other playing nations of his suspension, since the suspension extends to tournaments played in those nations as well.”
