Barbadian born Guyana Jaguars all-rounder, Raymon Reifer is delighted with his call-up to the West Indies 14-member squad that will tour England for the three-Test matches from July 8. Reifer, who is the only Jaguars player and is among the nine Bajans in the 14-man squad, will depart to defend the Wisden trophy on June 8.

In Reifer’s interview with the Barbados Nation, he disclosed that it was the hard work that paid off. Reifer, whose left-arm angle and variations, along with his stubborn lower-order batting, has made him one of the leading all-rounders in regional cricket over the past six seasons, told the Weekend Nation he was happy the West Indies selectors had shown faith in him.

“It is good to be back in West Indies colors. I am looking forward to this tour. It is a bit of mixed emotions. I am a bit surprised but really happy and looking forward to the opportunity.“One always looks forward to representing the West Indies because it is a childhood dream,” said Reifer, who was born in Archer’s Road, St Lucy, and raised in Husbands, St James. Reifer played one Test match back in 2017 against New Zealand where he took two wickets in the match and scored 52 runs across the two innings. The left-hander has been an important asset to the successful Guyana Jaguars franchise.

He played 77 First-class matches and has 175 wickets under his belt with six five-wicket haul. He has a solid bowling average of 25.29 with a best bowling figure of 6-74. In addition to Reifer’s one Test match that he played, he has two ODI caps which he rocked the maroon colors against Bangladesh in 2019. The 29-year old has also played in the Hero Caribbean Premier League where he further announced himself at the biggest party in sport.
